Diversion
Philosophy
Northern Hills Diversion is a program in our neck of the woods, covering a trio of counties. It’s all about helping young folks who’ve gotten into a bit of trouble to step up and take responsibility for their actions. But, hey, not all cases are the same, right? That’s where Northern Hills Diversion swoops in.
We sit down with the young person and their family and have a real heart-to-heart. We chat about what happened, of course, but we also look beyond that. We’re talking about family, school, emotions – the whole nine yards. This helps us figure out why things went south and what can be done to make them right.
Once we’ve got the lowdown, we craft a plan that’s just for them. No cookie-cutter stuff here. This plan takes into account the offense and what we’ve learned from the assessment. The goal isn’t just punishment; it’s about giving these young folks the tools to turn things around. Diversion isn’t just about ticking boxes and moving on. It’s about taking a personal journey toward responsibility and growth.
How Does it Work?
The Juvenile Diversion program is a way to help young folks who have gotten into some trouble with the law for minor stuff like underage drinking, shoplifting, simple fights, or skipping school.
Now, here’s the deal – to be a part of this program, both the young person and their guardians have to say, “Yep, we’re in!” It’s all about teamwork.
The folks running the Juvenile Diversion program might give the young person and their family a surprise visit every now and then. Just to check in and see how things are going and make sure everyone’s on track. But remember, the real responsibility for completing the program rests with the young person and their family.
So, the Juvenile Diversion program isn’t just about punishment; it’s about turning things around, learning, and growing.
